We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Alex (McCormick) Grimaldi to St. Mary’s Catholic Elementary School as our new 5th grade teacher.
Mrs. Grimaldi brings eight years of classroom experience, beginning her teaching career at Webb City Middle School, where she taught for four years. She later moved to Arizona while her husband, Nate Grimaldi (SMC Class of 2013), attended medical school, spending three years there as a 4th grade teacher. This school year, she has served as a long-term substitute at Resurrection Catholic School in Wichita. We are excited to welcome Mrs. Grimaldi back to her alma mater (SMC Class of 2014) and look forward to the passion for teaching and experience she brings to our faculty and school community.

We are pleased to welcome Mr. Jesus Medina to St. Mary’s Catholic Elementary School as our new 3rd grade teacher.
Mr. Medina brings nine years of teaching experience, including time spent teaching preschool and 2nd grade. He currently serves as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher at Holy Name Catholic School in Coffeyville. We are excited to have Mr. Medina join our faculty and look forward to the faith, knowledge, and dedication he will bring to our St. Mary’s school community.
Mrs. Whitney Clawson is moving to kindergarten.
We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Kara Jeck as our new Physical Education teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic Elementary School.
Mrs. Jeck brings 11 years of teaching experience, having taught reading, math, social studies, science, and special education at the middle school level. Most recently, she served as a physical education teacher in Manitou Springs, Colorado. Mrs. Jeck will be relocating to Pittsburg with her husband, Coach Stu Jeck, who was recently named head coach of the St. Mary’s Colgan Panther Football Team. Together they have a four-year-old son, Forest. We are excited to have Mrs. Jeck join our school community and look forward to the energy and experience she will bring to our students.

Lenten Fasting & Abstinence:
Catholics in good health, ages 18 to 59, are required to fast and abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting consists of eating only one full meal, with the option of two smaller snacks that do not add up to a full meal.
Additionally, Catholics age 14 and older must abstain from meat on all Fridays during Lent.
