St. Mary's Elementary School is pleased to announce that Mrs. Joanne Lown will be joining our faculty for the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Lown comes to us with 17 years experience in education. She has taught PreK, 1st, and 2nd grades at Thomas Jefferson in Joplin, Missouri and most recently served as the principal at St. Mary's Elementary School in Joplin for five years. Mrs. Lown will be teaching 1st grade at St. Mary's Elementary.
Mrs. Katie Smithhisler will be moving from 1st grade to Kindergarten.
We welcome Mrs. Lown to our Panther Family and wish Mrs. Smithhisler great success in her new role as a Kindergarten teacher!
Sr. Mary Francesca, IHM will be our new JH ELA teacher for 24-25 school year, replacing Bev Mitchelson who is retiring at the conclusion of the school year. Sister grew up in Plainville and attended Fort Hays State University for two years after high school. She met the IHMs at the Catholic Student Center near campus and joined the community in 2016. After professing perpetual vows in 2022, she completed the last two years of her education at PSU. She is currently finishing her student-teaching semester at SMC and will graduate from PSU in May of 2024. Please join us in welcoming Sister as an official member of our Panther Family.
