02.18.25: Congratulations, Ashlin Tyler, Pittsburg Morning Sun Academician of the Week. We are proud of you!

Due to the continued weather situation, and for the safety of all, school is cancelled for Wednesday Feb. 19. This is a great way to spend family time/ family night together!
Stay warm, stay safe.

Intent to Enroll Forms for the 2025-2026 school year opened this weekend for currently enrolled students. Parents should have received the link via email. If you haven’t completed the form yet, please do so soon. Deadline: March 1.

First Grade recently visited the Ronald McDonald House in Joplin during CSW. Students toured the house and learned about the important work the RMH does. They also brought much-needed supplies to help families. The students enjoyed putting the Corporal Works of Mercy into action with their donations and the Valentine’s Day crafts they made. ❤️

No School on Monday, Feb 17th (Presidents' Day). Enjoy your extra day, Panthers.

Due to road conditions on some side streets, there will be no school on Thursday, Feb. 13. School will resume on Friday, Feb. 14.

Event Update: Paul J. Kim at Our Lady of Lourdes – Tonight, February 12th, 2025
We have an update regarding tonight’s event featuring Paul J. Kim at Our Lady of Lourdes. The event will continue as originally scheduled, starting at 6:00pm. Paul is still en route to Pittsburg and is expected to arrive just in time for the event.
To accommodate his travel, if needed, we will begin the evening with music and Adoration, followed directly by Paul’s talk. If you feel safe doing so, we hope to see you tonight in the church!
Thank you for your understanding.

We are excited to introduce two new additions to our faculty for the 2025-26 school year—Kent O'Neal and Madeline Woolsey. Please join us in welcoming them both to our team. We are excited about the expertise and passion they will bring to our school community.
Kent O'Neal
Kent brings over 35 years of experience as a teacher, coach, and assistant athletic director. Originally from Conway Springs, Kansas, Kent has spent the last 20+ years at South Coffey County, where he taught math and history, as well as coached and served as the assistant athletic director. He holds a Master's in Theology from Newman University.
Currently residing in Yates Center and a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Kent will be relocating to Pittsburg. In his new role, Kent will teach all Junior High Math classes and will also serve as our Junior High/High School Athletic Director.
Madeline Woolsey
Madeline was born in Salina, Kansas, and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She attended Pittsburg State University, where she earned her degree in English Education. Madeline taught for two years in Valley Falls, Kansas, and four years in Fredonia, Kansas. In her free time, Madeline enjoys reading, sewing, and playing tabletop games. She will teach High School English Language Arts (ELA), Speech, and Forensics at St. Mary’s Colgan. We are particularly excited to revitalize the Forensics program, which has not been offered in years, by adding it to our course offerings for the coming year. Madeline is looking forward to returning to Catholic education at St. Mary’s Colgan and is excited to become part of our school family!

For the safety of all and due to the current weather conditions / forecast for today, school is cancelled for Wednesday Feb. 12.

Eve Brown, SMC Junior competed today and was slated as the FCCLA District J-East Secretary. This is St. Mary Colgan’s third year as an affiliated FCCLA chapter and our first year having representation on the District Officer team. Congratulations, Eve!
And thank you to Annette Bradbury and Sarah Schibi for serving as our chapter’s voting delegates.
❤️ This week is also National FCCLA Week!
