We are proud to announce the 2026-27 theme and logo!  "It was not you who chose me but I chose you." (Jn. 15:16) 

From Fr Jon:   These are the words Jesus spoke to His Apostles at the Last Supper, and they are also our school theme this year. I think this theme is a perfect fit for our school, because in it we find both comfort and challenge. Each of the Apostles sat with Jesus in that upper room carrying all of their expectations and their baggage, and still, He chose them. We are tempted to picture these men as spiritual heroes who were already perfect, and to assume that perfection is why Jesus chose them, but that is not the story the Gospels tell. The Apostles did not become perfect and then decide to follow Jesus; Jesus chose them exactly as they were, in the midst of their doubt, their pride, their fear. 

Our Catholic faith, so dear to us here at St. Mary's Colgan, tells us the same is true of every one of us: teachers, students, parents, priests, and parishioners alike. We do not become worthy of Jesus and then earn His love; He has already chosen us and already loves us. How often do we believe the opposite: that if we simply try harder, or achieve more, or become more successful, then Jesus will love us. This school year we have the opportunity to set that lie aside and rest instead in the deeper truth: we are chosen, not because of what we have done, but because of who He is. Whatever this school year may bring, whatever difficulties or doubts we may carry into it, may we return again and again to this truth, that Jesus Christ has already chosen us, confident that His love for us does not wait on our perfection.
