school news

It is with a heavy heart, and with much gratitude, that St. Mary’s Colgan announces the departure of our Head Football Coach, Shawn Seematter. Coach Seematter has led our football program for the past nine years, shaping not only athletes but also young men of character, integrity, and dedication.

Coach Seematter shared: I informed the football team of my intent to step away from teaching and coaching and seek opportunities outside of education at the end of this school year. Spending the last nine years as the head coach at St. Mary's Colgan has been a dream come true, and I'm incredibly thankful for all of the people who have played a part in it. The administration, staff, parents, community, and most importantly, the kids, have been a great pleasure to work with. This decision has weighed heavily on me and is certainly not one I've taken lightly, but after giving it much thought I am confident that it is time. It's been one of the great privileges of my life to dedicate the past nine years to keeping the St. Marys Colgan football program a top-notch program, and I want nothing but the best for the program, and all of the SMC athletic programs, going forward.

We are deeply thankful for Coach Seematter’s leadership, tireless commitment, and the positive impact he has made on our players, our school, and our community. His guidance on and off the field has left a lasting legacy that will be remembered for years to come.

Coach Seematter will continue to serve as Head Football Coach through the end of this school year, ensuring a smooth transition for the program. Please join us in expressing your gratitude and wishing him the very best in this next chapter of his life.
