We are excited to share that the theme for the upcoming school year is:
"Be still and know that I am." Psalm 46:10
This verse calls us to pause, reflect, and trust in God’s presence and providence, especially in the midst of a busy and active school community.
Fr. Jon Tolberd, our School Chaplain, shares this reflection:
“Our theme for next school year is ‘Be still and know that I am.’ (Ps 46:10) I think this theme is a perfect fit for our school. In this simple verse there is the possibility of rest and challenge.
St. Mary’s Colgan is a very engaged school, and we seek engagement from everyone: teachers, staff, administration, students, parents, priests, parishioners. It takes a family working together to maintain our wonderful school. In that activity, sometimes we might find ourselves overwhelmed with all that there is.
We can attend to our overwhelmed heart by trying harder to try harder, or we can find rest with Jesus Christ. We can be still and know that he is God, that he has everything under control, bringing it all to completion in His Divine Providence.
This might challenge us to let go of deep wants that seem to mean a great deal to us but pale in comparison to the love Jesus has to offer. This place of prayer could also move us to a place of endurance with Jesus: be still in this time of turmoil and know that He is with you. Know that He is God.
Whatever this school year might bring, may we let Jesus guide us through it all as we are still before his gaze, confident that He is God.”
We look forward to another year of growing in faith, community, and trust—together as one Colgan family.
